Dear friends, good neighbours - it is finally done: My current modeling project »Welcome to Derry« has been completed and the final pictures have been taken.
This time the subject of my implementation was a novel that has accompanied me from the early days of my childhood and still is my most favorite novel: Stephen King’s »IT« – a simply hair-raising, frightening story and from a psychological point with regard to its contents a finely-nuanced epic about the manifestation of the evil and the power of naive faith.
To cope with the spirit of the original novel, this bloody ode to the Fifties, this sentimental-dark token of love for an era of deceased rock stars, I wanted this project to be something special. So my Derry – including its underground world of the sewers – has finally been integrated in an old 1958 stereo unit.
The novel, with all its references to Rock ‘n’ Roll in the Fifties has merged into a whole with that furniture, and has become part of it. The surface represents the romantic sight of Derry town bathed in the golden light of a late summer day. Only when you flip open the cabinet door you do see what is underneath: The sewage pipes way down below... in the green glowing light of the deadlights.
